The Dental Implant
The dental implant is essentially the artificial root for your new tooth. It is an inert, medical-grade titanium screw fixture that is placed into the bone and is designed to allow the surrounding bone to attach to it (a process called osseointegration). The number of dental implants used depends on the number of teeth that are being replaced. Today, advanced 3DCT imaging allows our dentists to evaluate the available bone in 3 dimensional imaging and to plan & fabricate digital surgical guides that facilitate precise & non-invasive placement of dental implants for ideal position and with minimum discomfort to the patient (Computer-guided Dental Implants).
The Crown
The crown is the visible part of the dental implant and can be considered the “tooth”. Most of our crowns are made of a combination of zirconia and porcelain and are designed to improve both the smile and the alignment with other teeth in order to achieve a strong bite.
The Abutment
The abutment connects the dental implant to the artificial crown.
